Conacyt: Financial Aid for Mothers

The National Council of Science and Technology (Conacyt) and the Social Security Secretariat will recommend scholarships for single mothers or heads of household. The monthly or bimonthly stipend ranges from 1,600 to 4,000 pesos for university students.

The minimum amount will be provided if the mother has a child between 12 months and 4 years old. A mother can only have three dependents registered for such benefits in the same period.

If the mother has a child with a disability, the support will increase to 3,600 pesos every two months. As with the 1,600-peso scholarship, the target age is from 1 year old up to the day before their 6th birthday, and only 3 students can apply in the same period.

Finally, a scholarship of 4,000 pesos is available for single mothers to study at a public or private university. This amount is paid in additional installments of 2,000 pesos per month at the start of the academic year. The scholarship period ranges from six months to three years.

There are two processes that can be applied for one of the three pillars mentioned. For girls who wish to obtain the scholarship, but who are not students, they must go to a Federal Delegation of the Secretariat of Social Assistance and follow the guidelines that will be provided to them free of charge.

While academic mothers must carry out their operation through the higher education institution in which they are enrolled; Once this step has been completed, the university must request an access code from Conacyt to enter all the applications that may be submitted.

Another scholarship, this time from the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), is for students seeking a Maintenance scholarship for the 2021-2022 period, which corresponds to the new academic year that has just begun.
